Getting Caught Up

Anytime surgery is done on a baby it is a scary time. Rue's surgery happened to go smoothly, however scary it was. Her right hip was split open and cleaned out. There was a lot more to it and more cuts as well. She went through three casts over 3 months. One from waist to foot. One from waist to ankle. One from waist to knees. Every time she received a new cast, she had to be put under. It was the worst part of the whole experience.
Above she is getting ready for her first surgery

Below is cast number one
Above is her third cast and her poor legs

And last but not least her graduation to a brace. This was so much better than the heavy stiff cast but still rough on her. She had to wear this for a couple months.

That is when she was able to really get around and get into trouble.
Finally she was able to get out of the brace. Hip dysplasia is still no picnic but that is a story for another time.

Cast and brace free girls are happiest
